How It Works

The UK Wheelchair Users Association is a national non-profit initiative aimed at improving life for wheelchair users.

It is creating a user-contributed database of services, equipment retailers, and accessible locations across the UK, with the potential for international expansion. The system will rely on input from the community to provide real, experience-based reviews and information.

Founder’s Insight:

The founder is a wheelchair user himself—older, in poor health, and living with the daily ups and downs of disability. From personal experience, he’s come up with countless self-help solutions to everyday problems. But he’s also learned something crucial: no one-size-fits-all answer exists.

Every disabled person finds their own way forward.

What really helped him was hearing from others in the same boat. Real advice, from real people, based on lived experience. So he dug deep—researching forums, websites, and advice services—and found a glaring gap: there’s no central place for live, honest interaction between people who really get it. The kind of space where someone struggling can ask, and others jump in with help, ideas, or just a bit of encouragement.

Even better, he discovered that most people want to do more than just receive help—they want to offer it. Most importantly, we now fill that gap. So please, you are invited to join us as an equal partner. We want you to be part of the solution.
